Back in late December, I shared that we were kicking off our journey with the Tech Preview for Printers and IoT and opening the door to a new way of thinking about printer and device management.

Since then, we’ve been heads down building, testing, learning, and listening.

And now, I’m excited to share that we have officially entered Beta!! 🎉

This is a big step forward as we get closer and closer to General Availability, and with Beta we’re expanding access to even more functionality across the platform.

What’s new in Beta?

As part of this next phase, we’re rolling out access to additional capabilities, including:

🛜 Wi-Fi configuration
🔐 Credentials payload support
🛠️ Firmware management

These are important building blocks in helping modernize how printers and IoT devices are configured, secured, and managed at scale.

And we’re not done yet.

We have more features coming soon as part of Beta as we continue moving toward GA, and we’re excited to keep sharing that progress with you here in the community.

What this means...

Beta is another major milestone in the journey from legacy printer management models to something more modern, scalable, and event-driven. We’re continuing to invest in the experience, expand capabilities, and refine the platform based on feedback and real-world usage.

So if you’ve been following along since that first post in December, thank you. And if you’re just joining us now, welcome the fun is just starting!

Also, if you’re already enrolled in the Tech Preview in one of our UAT environments, these new Beta features will become available to you automatically. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can request access through our beta portal at beta.omnissa.com. Stay tuned for more updates as we get even closer to GA.

You may have seen hints, whispers, or wild printer-related metaphors floating around the Omnissa Community for a while now. We’ve been quietly (okay, not that quietly if you were at Omnissa ONE!) building something new, something we’re super excited to finally start showing you.

So here it is:

🗓️ On Wednesday, December 10th, we’ll be launching the Tech Preview of our Printers and IoT platform and this is your first-class boarding pass to check it out.

Why printers? Why now?

Because printer management still matters and frankly, it hasn’t kept up. We’ve heard your stories: the wild enrollment rituals, the mysterious driver behaviors, the "is it online?" guessing games.

So we decided to rethink the model. From cables and "connectors" to modern, MQTT-powered clarity. And yes, it’s real. And yes, it’s happening. (Also brownie points if you get the "connector" joke!)

What to expect in Tech Preview

Without giving away all the holiday magic just yet... the preview will showcase:

🌐 A platform that understands connected devices beyond just phones and tablets
📡 And the first steps toward a modern, event-driven way to manage printers at scale

You’ll start seeing some key enrollment features roll out, and we’ll be right here to gather feedback, answer questions, and jam on ideas with you because that’s the whole point of this forum.
