Is Omnissa now maintaining the OS optimization tool? Any ideas where to download the newest version?

Thx,

Dan

Yes, we are maintaining OSOT, especially as it is part of the product downloads and fully supported.  I've been helping with a few bugs and updates, and know that a new version is in the works.

Yes, I just got confirmation from the OSOT team . They tested and support with Win 11 23H2 (Ent, Edu, and Pro).

They also tested with 24H2.

There were no updates to the built-in template in this release. A few years ago, we changed OSOT so that a single template could be used in different OS versions. There were also no new optimizations that we needed to include in this release.

Now if only I could get my hands on a 24H2 ISO and start un-supportingly testing it on Horizon 🙂 haha

I'll be tested it shortly, and will report my results.

However, keep in mind that even if it does work, it's not supported and shouldn't be used in production, until Omnissa officially supports it.

Testing Results (Windows 11 24H2 with OSOT)

Note that I created a new Base Image, using Microsoft ADK and WinPE for proper deployment of a base image without a vTPM (following best practices, so that vTPMs can be attached during provisioning).

-Optimization Semi-Works (Note issues below)

-Generalization Semi-Works (Note issues below)

-Finalization Works (skipped Zero'ing disk for time efficiency)

-Provisioning: Deploying the snapshot to an Instant Clone pool, results in a functional Instant Clone (with App Volumes Agent providing O365, Chrome, Zoom for VDI).

Issue #1 - Optimization

Under "Store Apps", if you choose to Remove all store apps, all the check boxes are not clickable to keep any apps. I'm assuming that either naming of the Windows Store apps has changed, or the OSOT 2406 tool isn't detecting them. The workaround I chose, "Keep all Windows Store Applications".

Issue #2 - Generalization

When Generalizing, it appears to go through the process, but despite selecting "Reboot System", it does not reboot. Reviewing the log files, it appears generalization was successful, however despite "Generalization Succeeded", there are some failures in the sysprep logs. Manually restarting the VM allows you to proceed, and image appears to be generalized.
