John Twilley Posted July 24 Posted July 24 (edited) It looks like the Horizon Client Install URL is broken. It points to https://www.vmware.com/go/viewclients It would be Super if it was updated to point to an Omnissa.com URL. This URL works: Download VMware Horizon Clients - VMware Customer Connect (omnissa.com) Our customers use the embedded URL from within Workspace ONE Access for their setup. It was working a couple days ago, but I guess Broadcom is performing cleanup of all EUC from their websites. Edited July 24 by John Twilley 1
John Twilley Posted July 25 Author Posted July 25 I did the right thing, and opened an Omnissa Support Case. Reply was as follows: "Our R&D team is working on getting that link updated." 1 1
Administrators Holly Lehman Posted July 25 Administrators Posted July 25 Hi @John Twilley We have insights that this issue is supposed to be fixed with the updated client release later today.
Employee Rob Beekmans Posted July 26 Employee Posted July 26 (edited) It seems the updated version comes out soon but for future references, you do have total control over what the link points to. Many customers don't let it point to our repository but use an internal one. I'll show you how to point to your internal repository, if you don't want that and just want to connect to Omnissa, skip until step 2 and where you enter client name, enter the url found in step one. It' very straight forward, learn this as it also allows to customize the portal. When you look at the connection server folder structure, you see a ProgramFiles\VMware\VMware View\Server\Broker folder. in that folder you can create a folder called Downloads. Copy the client from this address https://customerconnect.omnissa.com/downloads/info/slug/desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_horizon_clients/horizon_8 in to there. Open C:|ProgramData\VMware\VDM\Portal\Portal-links-html-access.properties with a text editor in admin mode. Copy the client name of the client you just copied in the download folder and replace the link.win64=/ entry with this so that it will be link.win64=/VMware-Horizon-Client-xxxxxxxx.exe Restart the web component service or the entire connection server, whatever you like most. and la voila, the client link is done.. a bit of automation and you can puh this to all your server. John Twilley Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 (edited) It looks like Broadcom has fixed the URL redirect (again) for https://www.vmware.com/go/viewclients, it now goes to https://customerconnect.omnissa.com/downloads/info/slug/desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_horizon_clients/horizon_8 Rob - I was referring to the builtin shortcut in Workspace One Access in the Account section. We have instructions for our customers to leverage that for the local install of the Horizon Client. Or are you saying that the SAAS offering queries my connection servers and alters that URL? I'm still not sure why Omnissa is relying on Broadcom to redirect the URL. It is STILL the vmware.com address. You'd think swapping out a URL would be relatively easy. This is the second time this has broken since the divestiture, and it probably won't be the last. Edited July 29 by John Twilley
Solution John Twilley Posted August 5 Author Solution Posted August 5 UPDATE: The URL was updated to point directly to the Omnissia.com website in the Workspace One Access August 5th upgrade. 1
