Omnissa made an impact in the End User Computing industry before it even launched. Citrix clearly is nervous about Omnissa, with all their security issues and increasing license costs, you would think they have better things to do than write FUD blogs and spread fear among our customers.

It is tempting to write a counter blog, answering all the FUD statements made, but we decline from lowering ourselves to the school playground. We will manage this in customer meetings, no better opening of a competitive meeting than showing your competitor is terrified and spreading lies.

Let us look at what Omnissa is about and go into some details.

Omnissa is a new name in the EUC business, but with decades of experience, that Broadcom spun out after the VMware acquisition. It serves companies of all sizes in the world and governments and militaries use it as their primary application and desktop access. Governments and militaries use Omnissa Horizon as it is the most secure and flexible solution in the market. Omnissa Horizon is the only VDI solution with NIAP CC and one of the few with FedRAMP High and DoD IL5 certifications.

Taking it one step higher, Omnissa is the only one with an enterprise ready digital workspace; hybrid multi-cloud desktops and apps combined with a market leading UEM solution. Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM is a market leader, part of the Omnissa Workspace ONE family providing context aware access, intelligence, device management and protection.

We understand that this is causing nervous discussion with our competitors, we truly do, but we are not sorry, and we are just getting started.

We have multiple reports of Citrix customer looking for other options because of annual license changes that are making licenses increasingly premium priced. Omnissa Horizon licenses have been and still are bundled with VMware/Broadcom vSphere, with no price increase.

Omnissa Horizon universal licenses allow for cloud and on-premises deployments, in fact you can deploy wherever it pleases you. There is no double-pay for this, no matter how hard our competitors are trying to spin that story. There is more to come in the next months, but Omnissa Horizon is a hybrid multi-cloud solution that, despite claims, runs natively on Microsoft Azure.

From a security and compliance perspective, Omnissa Horizon has a feature rich portfolio. Omnissa is less dependent on third party solutions and thus can develop faster. Our anti-keylogger is built in-house, not licensed from a third party. Omnissa Horizon watermarking also allows watermarking on printouts and has a ton of options configurable. Combine this with anti-screen scraping, session recording, forensics and compliance certifications that our competitors are not matching, it shows that your intellectual property is safer with Omnissa.

App volumes is a game changer. Taking the application out of the image leads to fewer images to manage and deploy, faster application updating, and less intrusion into productivity. There simply is no match for this.

The benefits of lowering the number of images to manage and speed up patching of applications without having to wait for your image update date is amazing. Think about the security impact of this-patches can be applied nearly instantly-that is what application life cycle management should look like. There is no other DaaS or VDI solution out there with this capability. We work hard to keep your data secure.

Omnissa understands that secure access to your environment is important. Our Unified Access Gateways (UAG) are deployable by script and are not updated but destroyed and redeployed. The UAG’s are not seen as some foreign object in a network, rejected by desktop and security teams. They are embraced because deployment and updating is easy and secure.

We are ready for the future, and we will shake up the EUC business even more in the next years to come.
