RalphFox Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Dear, When I try to update, install or uninstall VMWare Horizon Client on Windows 10 I get the error: Error getting file security: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Start Menu\Programs\ GetLastError:5 and then I can only exit and installation cancels. Seems to be a permission issue. I tried to unflag the readonly of the directory but that doesn't help and it willput the flag back. Same issue when I run in administrator mode. Any idea how this is possible and what the solution is? VMWare 5.4.1.11072 is installed and runs since a few weeks only in browser mode. In client mode the procedure stops when the progression bar is almost full. Tnx
Employee Victor León Posted August 21 Employee Posted August 21 Hello, Try giving the "modify" permission for the particular folder to "Users". GetLastError:5 means Access is denied. as per https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/debug/system-error-codes--0-499-
RalphFox Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 I tried this and get the message: An error occured while applying security information to: C:\programdata\malwarebytes\mbamservice\actions.dll and lots of other files/directories Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Acces is denied. If you stop the propagation of permission settings, it might lead to an inconsistent state where objects have different settings. If you made this change bij mistake, you should apply the correct permission settings immediately.
