StephenWagner7 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 @Daniel Keer, and I were chatting yesterday about Active Directory Based Activation (ADBA) and VDI. I know that the Omnissa Documentation (Activating Windows on Instant Clones) states that ADBA isn't supported, are there any plans to make it supported? There's a blurb on the Microsoft Documentation (Active Directory-based activation overview | Microsoft Learn), stating "Some VDI solutions also require that new clients activate during creation before they're added to the pool. In this VDI scenario, ADBA can eliminate potential VDI issues that might arise due to a KMS outage." Are there plans to support this? 1 Stephen Wagner (President, Digitally Accurate Inc.) Jubish Jose Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I would expect it to work fine, its just that VMware never tested it so they don't claim support.
Collin Joyce Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I can attest that ADBA works for Instant Clones, as far as being "supported" I would doubt they're going to go out of their way to test it and figure out what issues they could have with it. Honestly, I would recommend people utilize ADBA to avoid the need for a separate server specifically for KMS activation, but that would probably be a case-by-case basis where some folks might prefer to have it broken out in case there is an issue with the AD deployment.
